Benefit gig for Sam

in Asylum Seekers, City Wide, Entertainment, Refugees

Samuel Musarika

A BENEFIT gig will be held next month for a young asylum seeker desperate to stay in Sheffield.

Local musicians Mat Wale, Ben Stevenson, John T Angle, Richard Masters and The Silver Darlings have put together the Saturday June 12 show for Zimbabwean asylum seeker Samuel Musarika.

Samuel, 26, fled Africa in 2004 after he was beaten due to his sisters’ work with opponents of President Robert Mugabe. His sisters were granted asylum here in 2005, but the Home Office has ruled Sam is not at risk. Sam has volunteered to help the Sheffield Greens by designing this website.

The gig at 8pm at The Grapes on Trippet Lane is planned to raise awareness of Sam’s cause and raise money to help fund his campaign. Tickets £3 on the door.
