Scrap tuition fees

As the students prepare to march tomorrow and the occupation continues at the University, Sheffield Green Party co-chair Bernard Little made these comments.

“We’re continuing to support legitimate protests by students and others against tuition fee rises and education cuts. Many Sheffield people realise that these government cuts are unnecessary and will harm nearly everyone. We think tuition fees should be scrapped and university education funded from taxes on big companies. Nick Clegg and other Lib Dem MPs must keep their election promises and vote against tuition fee rises on Thursday.”

On Wednesday evening the Sheffield Greens will be meeting for their AGM at St Matthews Carver Street. The speaker will be Caroline Dowd (President Sheffield Hallam University Students Union) plus panel Q & A on the anti-cuts campaign including tuition fee proposals. Speaker & Q & A from 7.30pm with AGM after interval at 8.50 pm. Refreshments will be served before the meeting and in the interval. All members, friends and prospective members are welcome to attend.
