Vigil for Bernard and letter writing campaign to Kenya Airways

Bernard has been detained at Morton Hall detention centre (prison) and is due to be deported this Monday. Please support the vigil for Bernard Mboueyeu at 4pm on Friday 18th May outside the Town Hall. You can also “like” his Facebook campaign page and get all your friends to sign the petition here.

You could also take five minutes to write a short e-mail to Sam Okwulehie, Group Area Manager at Kenya Airways. You can use this template, but it will be more effective if you include your personal feelings. If you were being forcibly separated from your partner how would you behave? If you were being sent back to a country where you were totured for doing your job how would you feel?

Dear Mr Okwulehie

Please do not help the forced removal of Bernard Alain Mboueyeu Djikeugoue on Kenya Airways KQ101 from London Heathrow at 20:00 on Monday 21st May. He was tortured in Cameroon, and his return there will endanger his life. He is being separated from his English wife, Sharon against his will. Please have mercy on him and refuse to take him back to the country where he was tortured for carrying out his job as a journalist. You have the right and duty to consider whom to carry on your airline, both for the sake of your reputation and for the sake of the safety and comfort of your passengers. You have a moral duty not to be involved in this injustice.

Yours sincerely
