£4 uniforms are from sweatshops

Dear Sir

School uniforms for £4 ? You can’t sell clothes for this price and pay the workers who make them a living wage. Tesco and Asda are among supermarkets buying from Far East sweatshops despite signing up to the Ethical Trading Initiative. £4 uniforms give a short term boost to many struggling families in South Yorkshire but just push wages down for struggling families elsewhere. What we need is a fairer sharing out of wealth and fair pay so local families don’t face a daily struggle and others get justly rewarded too.

Yours Sincerely

Eamonn Ward
