Local Green Party spokesperson Jon Ashe commented:

“We’re disappointed that the Council has given the go-ahead to this large multi-storey car park. We recognise that poorly children and adult patients and their relatives need to be able to get to the hospitals easily. But there are positive alternatives to increasing parking spaces via a multi-storey car park in an area clogged up with traffic already. The University and local hospitals need to reconsider their long-term travel strategies and implement more sustainable alternatives.”
