Greens stick up for families on low incomes.

Dear Editor
People on low incomes, including many working families, have seen their benefits cut drastically while they have to pay at least 23% of their full council tax bills for the
first time.

Our Labour council could have claimed the £1.1 million one-off Government grant for keeping this to just 8.5% of the council tax bills. They could have used the £2 million from ending discounts on empty homes. Instead they chose to penalise the poorest families in the city. That’s why a lot more households are now struggling to pay their bills. The Green Party opposed their proposals last January and will continue to stick up for families on low incomes.

Yours
