Greens support Fairtrade fortnight and new fairtrade shop in Broomhill

fairtradeshopbroomhillSheffield Green Party is supporting Fairtrade Fortnight from February 24th to March 9th. Brian Webster, from Broomhill Green Party, visited the new Fair Grounds fair trade shop on Whitham Road in Broomhill when it opened on the first day of Fairtrade Fortnight. Brian says :

“It’s great that an idea for a pop up shop in Fairtrade Fortnight then grew into plans for a permanent shop here. Fair Grounds is a positive addition to Broomhill Shopping Centre and the shop really looks great – inside and out. They have a strong track record and we support their ethical stance.”

Nina Carter-Brown set up Fair Grounds in 2006 as a Fair Trade Social Enterprise. They sell handmade, recycled, ethical products and, in return, individuals, families and cooperatives throughout Asia, Africa and Central America get a fair wage. Fair Grounds also offer an educational service working with young people in schools and youth groups.
