The Sheffield Green Party have long insisted that any devolution process includes active participation and engagement with the citizens of Sheffield and our region, with Cllr Jillian Creasy last month leading calls for a public debate on devolution.
In response to the announcement made today by Nick Clegg MP, Cllr Brian Webster stated “The Green Party support devolution of power to local areas, but it is essential that this is done in an open and democratic way. It is very disappointing that this deal has been struck behind closed doors, without any opportunity for the people of Sheffield to have their say.”Notes
