I’m lucky to have flexible working arrangements in my other roles, which means I can continue giving the councillor role its time.
Please outline relevant work you have done for the Green Party in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
Since being elected, I’ve played an active role in strengthening our Green Party presence in the ward. Especially within our minority ethnic communities. I’ve also built good relationships with local organisations and residents that help the Green message land in a way that feels relatable and grounded. This has been ongoing since my election, and I remain committed to keeping that local connection alive.
Please outline work you have done as a community activist or in another capacity in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
Long before being elected, I was involved in grassroots organising around housing, youth services, and education in the area. More recently, I’ve helped launch a support group for parents of children with SEND, bringing together professionals and families to fill the gaps left by overstretched services. I’ve also led on holding community meetings around housing disrepair and safety, making sure local voices are heard by housing associations and the council. My activism in the ward spans the last 9-10 years, and it’s rooted in wanting better for people who’ve often been overlooked.
Please outline any other relevant campaigning activity and experience in Sheffield or elsewhere including in wards where you are not seeking selection:
I’ve supported campaigns across Sheffield whether thats speaking at public meetings, or helping local groups write to councillors and MPs. I’ve also used social media to shine a light on overlooked issues and support local movements. Outside of Sheffield, I’ve spoken at national events about youth engagement, mental health, and the importance of community led change. I bring a mix of local and wider campaigning experience, with a focus on building bridges. Real connections.

Why do you want to be a councillor in this ward?
This ward is my home it’s where I grew up, where my family still lives, and where I’ve invested so much of my time and energy.
I’ve seen how overlooked our communities have been and how hard residents work just to be heard.
I want to continue being that voice in the room not just to raise problems, but to build solutions with people.

Teamwork and collaboration – I work well with others, whether in a voluntary role or as part of a campaign, and understand the importance of working together for the community’s benefit.
Cultural awareness and inclusion – With strong roots in the ward, I understand the local community’s diversity and work to ensure everyone feels represented and heard.
Why do you want to be a councillor in this ward?
I want to be a councillor in this ward because I deeply care about the people who live here. This is my community—I live here, I work here, and I’ve been actively involved in supporting residents for years. I see the challenges people face every day, whether it’s housing, access to services, or feeling unheard by decision-makers.
As a councillor, I want to be a strong, reliable voice for the community—especially for those who are often overlooked. I want to help create a ward that is fairer, greener, and more inclusive, where everyone feels respected and supported.

Dylan Lewis-Creser – City ward – greenparty@dylanlewiscreser.co.uk

Please advise any relevant information on how you will balance councillor, work and other commitments:
I have experience in balancing professional and other duties, and would give up my current other duties outside of work to be a councillor and ensure I give my all to the work to represent residents of City ward.
Please outline relevant work you have done for the Green Party in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
I have campaigned in every single target ward in our city in local elections, including in City for both Ruth Mersereau and Douglas Johnson for their re-election campaigns. This has included surveys, leaflets, and canvassing to make sure that people in the city centre know about the elections and the good work that Green councillors have done in our youngest and most rapidly changing part of the city.
Please outline work you have done as a community activist or in another capacity in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
As an active member of the community in the city, I have been involved in organising different events, including the first ever Radical Pride through the city centre. I have also been quoted by Now Then Magazine and have campaigned on the unfair city centre PSPO and its disproportionate impacts on homeless people, and would challenge and question its utility at the council if elected.
Please outline any other relevant campaigning activity and experience in Sheffield or elsewhere including in wards where you are not seeking selection:
I am an experienced election campaigner, including as a candidate in Walkley ward at the 2024 local elections, stepping in last minute to replace a sudden retirement of our incumbent councillor. Despite having a very short period of time, and not the same long campaign as other wards, I managed to have a small swing towards me based on 2023 from Labour.
I also stood as a General Election candidate, receiving 10.2% of the vote and coming in 3rd. As part of this, I was involved in a national radio election debate on LBC and local media.
What skills do you have that are relevant to the councillor role? Please detail briefly:
I have experience in community engagement, vital to be a councillor listening to and working with our neighbours. I am also an experienced governance and policy professional through various employment and voluntary roles I have done, which I will use to hold the council to account for the benefit of residents.
I have held people in power to account as an Assembly member for the Royal Town Planning Institute, and questioned decisions being made to ensure the best value for members. I will transfer this work over to my councillor work if elected, and ensure residents have a direct conduit to council officers and decisions.
Why do you want to be a councillor in this ward?
City ward is the youngest ward in our city, and it is vital that at least one young person is there to ensure that the voices of some of those least likely to vote in the city are heard. I have worked with the student and youth community significantly from my work at Sheffield Students’ Union, and as a previous Student and Young People Coordinator for Sheffield Green Party.
The city centre is also changing very rapidly, with new development springing up constantly and it can be hard to keep up and effectively advocate for the best solutions for all residents. As an Assembly Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, I am experienced in evaluating planning applications, ensuring that they align with policy and community ambitions, and know how to effectively engage the community in the future of our neighbourhood. If elected as a councillor for City, I would prioritise working closely with community groups and those less heard in the system to make sure development works for everyone – existing residents and new neighbours.
I will stand up for the vulnerable, and make sure that all voices are heard in the council chamber. I am committed to values of economic, social and environmental justice, but will not shy away from disagreeing with others where myself and others believe it to be just.

I am very experienced in starting and developing new community projects, consulting communities and translating that into actions. Organising and running community events and activities. Engaging people and encouraging participation. I have worked in the charity sector in Sheffield for almost 9 years and am well connected within that.
Why do you want to be a councillor in this ward?
Having worked so closely with local councillors, and living in the area. I have seen the difference having three Green councillors made to the ward, has inspired me to use my skills and knowledge to continue the excellent work they have been doing. I live in the ward, so it is my own community I would be working for, and with the very real threat of Reform I want to be in a position to assist in what I see as the only genuine alternative in politics at the moment

Since the spring term of 2023 I have jointly led a high profile campaign in the community to stop the construction of a MUGA at Ecclesall Primary School, which would take away natural green open space from children and nature. During this time I have spoken in objection at the Planning Meeting in the Town Hall. As a parent, I spoke with the Head teacher with diplomacy and conviction on multiple occasions, when nobody else felt they could. I worked with local councillors and lobbied our MP to gain support for the campaign. This campaign has also featured in the local Green Party newsletter.
Over the last few years, I have campaigned and spoken out on local social media for cleaner air through a reduction in domestic burning and car usage regularly with tact and diplomacy. I’m committed to the role and enjoy working dynamically. The work is varied, interesting and challenging – I’m happy to dedicate my time and energy because I enjoy it.
Please outline relevant work you have done for the Green Party in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
I was elected as a Councillor for Gleadless Valley in 2022. I’ve lived in the ward for almost 20 years and my children have grown up in the ward. My deep connection to the area means I know many of the local communities and groups and have built up genuine and mutual trust – both as local resident and in later years as an elected representative.
Please outline work you have done as a community activist or in another capacity in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
Together with my Green colleagues, we’ve been very actively representing people across the ward. For example; we work on individual cases to help people get better outcomes with housing matters, school places and neighbourhood issues; ensure the council delivers improvements to public spaces and green spaces; help with rubbish, recycling and fly tipping problems; support and promote our brilliant community and volunteer groups – to name a few things.
We also attend community meetings, events, workshops and contribute to local projects, steering groups and boards to ensure the best outcome for our residents.
Currently, I’m actively involved in new local initiatives, as follows:
-Free advice service delivered in community centres in Heeley and Gleadless Valley to help people maximise their incomes and get vital help with reducing bills.
-Bike hangars to be installed across Heeley and Meersbrook this year – the first ward to deliver this outside an LTN scheme.
-Biodiversity improvements and natural flood management project in Meersbrook Park.
Please outline any other relevant campaigning activity and experience in Sheffield or elsewhere including in wards where you are not seeking selection:

I’ve also travelled to help with other target election campaigns regionally and nationally. I’ve worked nationally on campaigns, policy communication and research, projects and events with Green MPs and Green Councillors from across the country.

-Team player – working collaboratively with the membership, the Green group and other political representatives.
Why do you want to be a councillor in this ward?

My experience of being elected is that it takes a while to understand how to be truly effective in the role – I feel I’ve learnt an incredible amount in the past 3 years and would like the opportunity to carry on deepening the work with the amazing communities and groups in my ward.

Please advise any relevant information on how you will balance councillor, work and other commitments:
For full transparency, I am a student studying a full time course, but for the last year I have been able to balance studying, campaigning, social events and being a charity trustee, as well as holding several elected offices within the party.
Should I be successful in being elected as a councillor, I would step down from several of my party roles and as a trustee, to ensure that I can give being a councillor the attention it deserves.
Please outline relevant work you have done for the Green Party in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
I have been the candidate for the Green Party for the past 2 elections, and delivered literature for Alexi’s campaign in the 2024 General Election. I designed and initially paid for our first ever literature in the ward, and have since organised most activity within the ward.
I also, on behalf of the ward party, attached notices to bus stops affected by the sudden closure of Woodseats Rd in June, as no such notice had been given, leaving the community confused.
I have been actively campaigning in the ward for the past two months, doing 60 second surveys across the ward.
Please outline work you have done as a community activist or in another capacity in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
In 2025, I have met with a community group regarding the potential new-stadium at Meadowhead and advised them on the planning process and I have attended a litter pick and am helping a group aiming to look after a local green space.
I have also picked up some casework, including fly-tipping which has been reported to the council, damaged bus stops reported to Travel South Yorkshire and am currently working on an issue relating to the activities of a local garage impacting nearby streets.
Please outline any other relevant campaigning activity and experience in Sheffield or elsewhere including in wards where you are not seeking selection:
As a trustee at local charity Sheffield Young Carers, I have been in the local press several times, talking on issues facing unpaid carers across the city, including in Graves Park.
I have been an active member of the Green Party for several years, campaigning across the city, including helping in Walkley, whose monthly foodbank collection I still attend. I have campaigned, canvassed or delivered leaflets in Walkley, Hillsborough, City, Gleadless Valley, Ecclesall and Broomhill & Sharrow Vale alongside my work in the ward.
Finally, as a member of the Uni of Sheffield Young Greens Society, I helped arrange and was a panellist on our headline event this year, called universities under threat, alongside Peer Natalie Bennett and academic Umberto Albarella.
What skills do you have that are relevant to the councillor role? Please detail briefly:
I have Local Knowledge – I grew up here, and know the ward and its issues well. I’m Approachable and I’m always happy to help someone and walk them through how things work. I’m driven and hard-working.
Why do you want to be a councillor in this ward?
I grew up in the area, I’ve grown with the area, using its parks, schools, GPs and shops. I love this community, and I want to do everything I can to help it, and the people that make it great. Graves Park is a fantastic area, but it has its fair share of struggles and problems. I believe in collective responsibility, that we have the responsibility to help as many people as we can, and that’s exactly why I want to be a councillor.

I am currently retired so can move my commitments around to fit in with the needs of the position.
Please outline relevant work you have done for the Green Party in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
I have been volunteering in the ward since 2021; door knocking, delivering leaflets & newsletters, attending relevant meetings, food bank collection and delivering food bank leaflets.
Please outline work you have done as a community activist or in another capacity in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
As above, I also worked for the charity sector in the area for Zest (a regeneration company based in Upperthorpe covering Hillsborough) and still have a number of strong contacts with local charity organisations including SOAR and Zest.
Please outline any other relevant campaigning activity and experience in Sheffield or elsewhere including in wards where you are not seeking selection:
I am a former vice-chair of the Central Learning Committee. I delivered NHS training funded by Sheffield City Council for Depression and Anxiety management. I delivered courses that I had written on Psychology, creative writing, IT and Music. As mentioned above I regularly go out and door knock locally including the recent 60 second surveys at Winn Gardens.
What skills do you have that are relevant to the councillor role? Please detail briefly:
I have a diverse and rich skills set especially as I have worked in the Private, Public and Charity sectors during my career. I have worked as an educator in the areas of Technical and end user IT, Health and Social Care (around Mental Health) and on the Arts side Creative Writing and Music History. I have delivered a multitude of contracts and courses for Sheffield City Council and have several contacts there within the educational part of the council. This has also given me a familiarity with the workings of Sheffield City Council (and its paperwork) which will be invaluable in this role.
I led on a project across the city which brought together all of the Charity Sector organisations to share good practice and learn new skills and insights from exterior organisations. This was during my first tenure with Zest and during my second tenure (which lasted over ten years) I delivered the mental health programs for the NHS. While working for Zest it has also taught me how to do things with no budget – invariably funding regimes to not cover all of the costs for a project or provide surplus funds for resources, so I have become very adept at creatively producing my own.
Transportation is another of my speciality areas. I am a third-generation railway man (my Mum and Grandad both worked for London Transport). I was the Group Coordinator for Intercity East Coast (South) which covered Kings Cross to Retford and attended many meetings as the Area Managers representative covering projects like large scale engineering works and the Travel Centre restructuring. I was also an active TSSA member while working for British Rail.
I also have a basic knowledge of planning procedures, building regulations and associated systems and processes as my father was an Architect with Islington Council until he retired and I was a frequent visitor to their offices and even went with him to site visits.
Why do you want to be a councilor in this ward?
I lived down Eskdale Road in the ward for 19 years as a private renter until last summer and have a good idea of the kinds of issues that affect Hillsborough Ward. Last summer we bought a house just up the road at Fox Hill but I still make daily trips to the ward to pick my little boy up from Hillsborough Primary School. I have many friends in the area and still enjoy catching up with them whenever I see them.
I want to do everything possible to promote the Green Party and their ideals within the Ward and provide an environmentally focused voice as a Sheffield City Councillor. This is my home, and I want it to be the best it can be.

I have leafletted and door-knocked in support of local and national elections in other Sheffield wards: City, Gleadless Valley, Hillsborough Broomhill and Sharrow Vale and Heeley.
What skills do you have that are relevant to the councillor role? Please detail briefly:
I am a good communicator, taking time to listen to all sides of a question before arriving at a conclusion. I am persistent when I have a cause to champion, or when I am acting on behalf of someone to ensure that they receive fair treatment. I like to think of myself as a valuable member of any team that I am in, be that in the workplace or within the Green Party.
Why do you want to be a councillor in this ward?
I believe that Manor Castle needs to be represented by a councillor who lives locally and understands the challenges that the ward is facing. I have lived here since 2011 and would like to contribute to this part of Sheffield which has made me so welcome.

What skills do you have that are relevant to the councillor role? Please detail briefly:
My approach is to listen, think, and then address issues/concerns directly. I like to get stuff done, whether by myself or finding the right person/people to help achieve it.
In public-facing and administrative positions, I gained solid communication skills and was comfortable speaking with people of all backgrounds & age groups, prioritise & organise my workload. I was involved in making decisions affecting people’s lives directly -mostly financially-, respecting the responsibility there, accepting that at times decisions may be unworkable and need revisiting.
I am unphased by paperwork or procedural protocols, contributing at meetings and/or asking clarifying questions.
Community projects helped me to develop leadership skills & see them in others. These wouldn’t have been achievable if I hadn’t recognised & utilised the network around me, our current Sheffield Green Party team & the Community for their engagement/advice.
I am active in social media through my Bargello practice with 6.5K Instagram followers. Due to our book over 2020/2021, we guested on international podcasts, so I’m at ease being interviewed on camera.
Why do you want to be a councillor in this ward?
In our diverse Ward in character and residents, there’s a lot to preserve, celebrate and do.
Among the issues affecting the area is fly tipping, unfortunately almost normalised. I want to add to the work Councillor Maroof Raouf is doing and build on that.
My motivation to do more politically is the wider issue of our increasingly divided society. The rise of Reform UK is a warning that we could lose the equality we have if we don’t offer a viable positive alternative.
Another cultural shift that scares me is the re-emergence of a misogynistic movement requiring women only for our bodies & labour. By standing at this time I am representing our right to be decision makers and to be visible.
I moved here 20 years ago as a Green voter, I know we make a difference.

Please advise any relevant information on how you will balance councillor, work and other commitments:
I am a self-employed ecological grounds person, and can fit my professional life around my councillor commitments. I’m also thankful to have a very supportive partner who tolerates my various Green endeavours!
Please outline relevant work you have done for the Green Party in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
Since around March, I have involved myself in various action days in the ward. These have included: litter picking, monthly food-bank collections, the Upperthorpe social day, attendance at a Central Local Area Committee meeting, assistance to the Ward Organiser (Lauren), and a whole host of 60-second surveys.
I’ve also made initial inquiries into the ownership of a derelict site, which I would like to turn into public green space for the community.
Please outline work you have done as a community activist or in another capacity in the ward you are applying for and the time period:
I have carried out occasional professional work in the ward to improve wild spaces for biodiversity. As well as improving my own rented garden for wildlife when I lived in the ward!
Please outline any other relevant campaigning activity and experience in Sheffield or elsewhere including in wards where you are not seeking selection:
I previously stood as the GPEW parliamentary candidate in Penistone and Stocksbridge in 2024, and as a councillor candidate in the recent Stocksbridge & Upper Don by-election. As well as lots of leafletting, canvassing and litter-picking in Hillsborough ward over the past few years.
Since August last year, I have also volunteered as SGP Campaigns Coordinator, helping to direct the party’s policy on topical issues.
What skills do you have that are relevant to the councillor role? Please detail briefly:
My greatest attribute to almost any role is probably my determination; as soon as I have a goal to achieve, I become a stubborn dog with a bone, due in part to growing up with dyspraxia. Apart from that, I hope that others find me personable, easy-going and organised, with a mind for cooperative problem-solving.
Why do you want to be a councillor in this ward?
I feel the Walkley and Upperthorpe ward is one of the most vibrant, friendly and diverse communities in the city. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to help residents live healthier, happier lives and to help Sheffield be a prosperous, forward-thinking city. Being a key ward in helping to elect a Green MP in Sheffield Central in 2029, that will be the goal I concentrate on for the party.
My ultimate ambition is to become a Green Party MP myself, for which this is a personal stepping stone, especially being a ward within the local party’s most likely parliamentary seat.
