As Coronavirus Covid-19 is engulfing world, you may be wondering how to help in some way at a local level. If you’re fit and of course able, you may already be offering help and support to others more vulnerable. If you’re looking to do more, here’s a few useful resources.
- Some Sheffield Green Party Wards have already set up Coronavirus support groups. There’s also a range of non-party local groups on Facebook and WhatsApp, as well as ways to offer help without social media. Contact your local Ward Organiser by viewing the Ward Organiser list on our website.
- Sheffield Mutual Aid have an active Facebook group which you can join, share best practice and find a group local to you – or set up a new one.
- There’s the #ViralKindness campaign described in the Guardian , with a free download of A5 cards to post through neighbours’ letter boxes with details of what help you can offer.
This is a difficult time for us all, but it’s most important that we put the health of those most vulnerable first. Be sure to follow NHS and Public Health England guidance on hand hygiene and social distancing to keep yourself and others safe and well. You can also access coronavirus information in different languages on the Doctors of the World website.
Following Government advice our physical meetings are cancelled until further notice, but some are continuing remotely, contact us to find out how get involved in these.
