The Sheffield Green Party is running candidates in every seat in the upcoming Sheffield City Council election on May 7th, 2026.

Our members and candidates have worked together to put forwards an ambitious manifesto to do what we can to make Sheffield into a fairer, greener place to live and work.

Our manifesto

Developing a Locally Focussed Economy

  • Support our independent businesses and cultivate our young talent, setting an economic example for the country.
  • Fight for high-quality, affordable housing, purchase empty properties and regulate landlords to provide better housing.
  • Create safer neighbourhoods and vibrant high streets, with community hubs showcasing the best of our voluntary sector.

Building a Healthy, Connected Community

  • Create community for young people and address knife crime at its roots, by investing in youth services and young people’s spaces.
  • Restore neglected city services including public toilets and develop new publicly-owned infrastructure.
  • Support tool libraries, skill shares and mutual aid projects.
  • Improve children’s wellbeing by supporting healthy relationships with social media, smart phones and other technology.
  • Promote preventative mental health services and community support networks.

Creating Better Travel Options and Safer Streets

  • Create a fully joined up cycle network with cycle schemes and bike hangars.
  • Make our streets safer using 20mph limits, rule enforcement and pedestrian priority for busy roads. Aiming for Vision Zero.
  • Connect our public transport system with integrated tickets, timetables and links between bus, tram and train.
  • Develop our bus and tram network with extensions, circular routes and night time services.

Taking Action on the Climate and Nature Emergencies

  • Support biodiversity and rewilding through community empowerment and public education.
  • Install solar panels on council and community buildings. Promote renewable energy across the city.
  • Restore Sheffield’s rivers and create more public green spaces for natural flood management and environmental enhancement.
  • Improve recycling across Sheffield.

Staying True to Our Values

  • Keep our communities informed and listen to their priorities all-year round.
  • Make our constituents’ voices heard in a party that respects local communities.
  • Stand with oppressed people everywhere, including divestment from Israel and support for Sheffield Apartheid Free Zone.
  • Fight racism, ableism and all other forms of prejudice.
  • Protect refugees and support our status as a City of Sanctuary.
  • Promote LGBTQIA+ rights and inclusion around our city.
