Brian Holmshaw – Hello, I’m Councillor Brian Holmshaw. I’m Chair of the Communities, Parks and Leisure Policy Committee at Sheffield City Council, known as CPL for short.
So it obviously includes parks, open spaces and woodlands across the city. But it also includes things like bereavement services, archives and our wonderful library
network.
So I’m here today to introduce our great Green Party candidate for Walkley. It’s Seb.
Seb has a few words to say today about how he’s been working across Walkley, Upperthorpe, and Netherthorpe on our public services and improving those and working as a Councillor as he will be very shortly.
Seb Van Bilsen Irias – Some of the issues I really care about are Yorkshire Water. A couple of weeks ago, I was on Welbeck Road when there was a massive geyser. This is unacceptable. We’re paying a lot of money for our bills and we’re getting really bad service, and the infrastructure is crumbling, and they’re doing nothing. So I would love to put pressure on them, so that they are forced to be better.
Another issue that I really care about is Ponderosa Park. There’s a lot of rubbish, fly-tipping, and there are no public toilet facilities. And I would love to tackle this. Make sure there are more bins, make sure that we tackle fly-tipping, and maybe even get some public toilets.
I also want to support both the libraries. The Walkley Library and the Upperthorpe Library.They are amazing assets to the community, and I would love to give them as much support as I can. These are some of the issues I really care about, and if I’m elected, I will try to do my best to address.
