Christmas is almost here. That’s going to mean lots of used wrapping paper, food and packaging, batteries – and plenty of bottles.
Disposing of waste is a regular issue all year round in the city centre. Sheffield is still one of the worst local authorities for recycling rates and many new residents are shocked to find they don’t have adequate recycling facilities, especially if they live in flats.
The good news for the New Year is the promise of a new recycling service for flats. I very much welcome this, even if the details aren’t yet clear. I suspect it won’t be straightforward as blocks of flats come in all shapes and sizes.
Please look out for changed bin collection days over Christmas – some are earlier; some are later. For enquiries about bin collections, you can ring 0114 273 4567 or look online at www.veolia.co.uk/sheffield
