We are appalled by the horrific islamophobic and racist online attacks on Sheffield Labour Councillors Ullah, the Lord Mayor, Councillor Saeed, and other Muslim councillors in Sheffield.
Sheffield Christmas lights and decorations are being put up as normal. As has been the case for the last few years there is no switch on event due to safety reasons.
It is disgusting, and unacceptable, that far right deliberate disinformation is being spread that “Sheffield Christmas lights are cancelled”, and that this is being used to incite hatred against Cllrs Ullah and Saeed, and other Muslim councillors in Sheffield, because of their faith.
Racism and islamophobia have no place in Sheffield.
We stand in full solidarity with Councillor Ullah, Councillor Saeed, and all Muslim councillors in Sheffield.
